We drove to Phoenix over the weekend but not for our usual reasons. Nathan's uncle, who he was very close to and who we loved spending time with, was in the hospital and wasn't expected to pull through the weekend. He had been fighting ALS for years. We drove to say our goodbyes and it was worth it to be able to see Uncle Barry's smile one last time. He passed away Monday morning. :(
One good thing about driving to AZ, though, is seeing family. While we don't always talk on the phone and we don't get to see everyone nearly as much as we would like, it is amazing to know what a loving family we are a part of. We only had one full day in AZ and spent it at Nathan's moms. My mom came to hang out for a few hours, as did Chauvon. My sister-in-law Carrie spent the whole day with us (along with her 3 kiddos... she even kept my two for a few hours while we went to the hospital!). Nathan's two brothers were also there for a good portion of the day. It was just nice talking and watching the cousins play.
Here are a few pictures.... :)

Defeated... hahahaha
They spent hours outside running around!

And this pic is totally random but I had to share. We dropped Tara off at a friends
for the weekend and when we picked her up she wouldn't move
her head from his shoulder. Too cute!

Aww... that last one with Tara is so sweet! I'm sorry for your loss, but I'm glad you got the time with family, and that you got to say goodbye. Merry Christmas!
